May 24 - Athens
What a wonderful day! Athens is a vibrant city and the Acropolis was everything I anticipated.
I had so much fun that I just had to have a blue sapphire martini with dinner! One more day in Athens - I'll see the Acropolis at night! Then on Wednesday, the long flight home 😞

Ephesus was awesome!
May 22 - Turkey
Today I'm taking a tour to Kusadasi. I added this tour in a rush when they reinstated Turkey on the itinerary and I didn't read the description thoroughly. I'm dubious about the house of the Virgin Mary noted as first century AD. The port is really beautiful and clean.

Πού είναι το μπάνιοh
It is rainy and freezing at the beach. I'm wrapped in my beach towel as an attempt to stay warm. On a sunny day, this would be wonderful. I did wade in the Mediterranean and collected sea rocks for shannon and eva. A few brave souls went swimming. The beach is very clean but is lacking the amenities that we are accustomed to. I think I'll ask for a little whisky with my next coffee.

May 21 - Rhodes, Greece
Rhodes has a very picturesque harbor!
I'm spending the day at the beach!
May 20 - Crete
More ruins! These were a little different than Pompeii and reconstructed for the convenience of the tourist. The villages survive on tourism.
Nice day but I'm tired. Everyone on the bus is sleeping.

Pompeii was very interesting. We walked through the excavated streets made of large stones that were very irregular. Because of my tendency to fall, I had to look down most of the time. They moved the tour very quickly. The tour narration was very informative.
May 18 - Amalfi coast and Pompeii
What a beautiful and thrilling drive we took today along the Amalfi coast. Fifty miles of narrow winding road that sometimes appeared to disappear from under the bus as we stared straight down hundreds of feet to the Mediterranean Sea. Tour buses competed for space, missing each other by inches as they tried to maneuver the sharp curves. When we weren't praying for safe passage, we were enthralled by the gorgeous scenery. It was like a dream. The pictures I took don't even begin to show what I saw with my eyes.
